Observational data on the intergalactic clouds responsible for the Lyman-alpha absorption lines seen in the spectra of QSOs are compiled and interpreted. The data and computational results are presented in tables and graphs, and it is found that the clouds evolve with the expansion of the universe, becoming more ionized and evaporating or becoming gravitationally bound and collapsing.
