The pulsation behavior of the Delta Scuti variables is characterized, reviewing recent observational and theoretical investigations. The theoretical masses, radii, and luminosities of the stars are listed in a table; three equilibrium models (deep radiative, shallow radiative, and convective) of linear radial and nonradial pulsations are described; the implementation of hydrodynamic simulations with these models is explained; and preliminary results are presented in graphs and discussed in detail. No evidence is found for the large amplitudes predicted by Stellingwerf (1979) on the basis of periodic solutions.
