The variations of high-resolution line profiles are modeled through the pulsation cycles of two delta Scuti-type variables, rho Puppis and delta Scuti. The results for rho Puppis, which show variations in radial velocity, but not in line shape, are unambiguous: radial pulsation (RP) fits the observations, while nonradial pulsation (NRP) does not fit. For delta Scuti the situation is more complex: although the radial-velocity changes are fitted well by RP, a 30% variation of line width through the cycle requires a small NRP component to the solution. The best fit consists of a two-mode radial/nonradial model having equal periods and a 2:1 velocity amplitude ratio.
