Polarization of the electron and positron spins in the strong magnetic
field of a hot newborn neutron star anisotropizes the neutrino emission,
so that its intensity is greatest along the field. This anisotropy could
significantly accelerate the neutron star during its brief Kelvin
cooling phase.
