Propagation effects from the interstellar medium (ISM) are discussed along with their implications for pulsar observations and analysis. Then I discuss (1) dedispersion techniques, particularly that for postdetection systems; (2) pulsar search analysis and the role of instrumental, interstellar and orbital broadening of pulses; and (3) methods for determining distances to pulsars and a new Galactic electron density model now nearly completed. I end by discussing new observations including multibeam searches and VLBI astrometric observations.
