The PTF (ATEL #1964; http://www.astro.caltech.edu/ptf/) reports the discovery of a new supernova, PTF10hcw. The supernova was discovered on May 14 UT at RA(J2000) = 08:43:36.22 and DEC(J2000) = +50:12:38.5 at a magnitude of 19.27 in R-band (calibrated with respect to the USNO catalog) in the galaxy NGC 2639. The supernova was not detected down to mag 20.3 in previous PTF images taken during April 2010 (3-sigma).
