We examine the change of proton temperature with heliocentric distance near the present cycle 23-24 activity minimum and the preceding cycle 22-23 minimum in the fast solar winds above both poles. Ulysses spacecraft public data are used. We find that the proton heating rate always differs between south and north and is lower at the present minimum.
