The possibility is evaluated of observing low-frequency radio recombination lines of heavy elements in the direction toward a quasar when intervening regions responsible for optical absorption lines are present. The physical parameters of the absorption zones imply that the dielectronic-recombination mechanism should be taken into account, much enhancing the lines of heavy elements compared with the hydrogen lines.
