In this paper the properties of Bipolar Planetary Nebulae (BPNe) are
briefly reviewed. The class of BPNe is defined, their characteristics
and proposed formation mechanisms are described, and some specific
aspects--polarization, inclination effects, and their link to symbiotic
stars--are highlighted.
