We present the first results of our study of the properties of a flux-limited sample of 24 micron selected infrared galaxies in the COSMOS field in the redshift range 0.3 < z < 1.5. Using line ratios derived from optical spectroscopy obtained with DEIMOS on Keck II we determine the relative contributions of starburst and AGN activity for the galaxies in our sample and then investigate how this correlates with luminosity and morphology. We study the morphology of these sources using HST/ACS imaging along with deep optical and near-infrared ground-based imaging and using all of the multiwavelength data available for the COSMOS field, we construct the full SED. For those sources that are mergers or interacting pairs we investigate how the above properties relate to their stage of the merger process.
