The proper motion of the Crab Pulsar is measured using photographic plates that span the 77-yr interval from 1899 to 1976 and Trimble's (1968) data on the Crab filaments. Reduction of the proper motion to an inertial reference frame is described in detail, and the relationship between the kinematics of the Crab Nebula and the proper motion of the pulsar is reconsidered. The total absolute proper motion of the pulsar is determined to be approximately 0.013 arcsec/yr toward a position angle of about 293 deg; this corresponds to a tangential velocity of approximately 123 km/s and confirms the high-velocity nature of the pulsar. A kinematic connection between the pulsar and the Crab filaments is definitely established with the finding that the position of the pulsar projected back to A.D. 1054 coincides with the divergent point of the filaments to within the observational errors. It is shown that, within the errors of measurement, the direction of motion of the pulsar is (1) along the major axis of the nebula, (2) toward the centroids of the optical and X-ray emission, and (3) parallel to the electric-field vector in the vicinity of the pulsar.
