LMSAL has begun a laboratory research program to develop TES (Transition Edge Sensor) microcalorimeter arrays for use in solar physics. We are currently testing TES arrays supplied by NIST. In addition, we have recently been funded under NASA's Solar and Heliospheric Research Program to begin work with NIST on position-sensitive X-ray strip detectors for solar physics applications. We are also collaborating with Stanford, LLNL, and NIST on a solar sounding rocket to perform soft X-ray imaging spectroscopy. In this poster, we will discuss the current status of this research and its applicability to future Explorers and Roadmap missions in the Sun-Solar System Connection research area.
