Basic principles that should be followed when processing the satellite laser ranging (SLR) data in a general relativistic framework are discussed. Some existing problems in the various methods of relativistic correction of SLR data are analyzed and reviewed. It is shown that processing SLR data in the solar system barycentric frame is equivalent to processing in the earth-centered frame within the present desired degree of accuracy.
