Procedures are described for processing the raw data and analyzing them for radial velocities from spectra of close binary stars observed with the charge coupled device (CCD)-echelle Hamilton spectrometer on the 3-m Shane telescope at the Lick Observatory. Interactive Data Reduction and Analysis Facility (IRAF) software is used. Extensive tests are carried out on stars of standard velocity of types late F to K and on synthetic binaries made from a sky spectrum, with a range of rotational velocities, luminosity ratios, and separation of the lines of the components. The results from the standard stars are satisfactory at the 0.2 km/sec level. The measured velocities in the synthetic binaries show that small corrections, not of a strongly systematic nature, are indicated for the larger rotational velocities, at the 2 km/sec level.
