We present an analysis of the observed brightness temperature distribution of AGN jet cores from 15 GHz VLBA observations of the MOJAVE complete sample. The observed brightness temperatures are Doppler boosted by the relativistic flow of these jets which are typically aligned at a small angle to our line-of-sight. To constrain the average intrinsic brightness temperature of the sample, we plot the maximum measured apparent jet speeds versus observed brightness temperature. We find that jets typically have intrinsic brightness temperatures near or below equipartition values in their median or low brightness states, and that their intrinsic brightness temperatures are in excess of equipartition in their maximum brightness states. These results are consistent with those found by Homan et al. (2006) for a smaller sample from the 2cm Survey. We find some evidence that a few sources may have intrinsic brightness temperatures considerably larger than the typical mean value.
