Near-infrared photometric data are compiled for possible candidates for silicate carbon stars in the northern hemisphere which were selected on the basis of the IRAS photometric data. Based on the characteristics of global infrared photometric spectra, eight carbon stars are proposed as probable candidates for silicate carbon stars. Silicate emission was recently reported for two of these candidates. Spectral observations in the 10-micrometer wavelength region are needed for these candidates in order to clarify whether or not they are true silicate carbon stars.
