Data on satellite signal reception are used in a statistical analysis of ionospheric parameters with the aim of determining factors leading to a termination of the signal reception. It is shown that the satellite signal reception terminates because of degeneration of the ionospheric wave channel. Signals can propagate in a vanishingly small waveguide channel over a distance of about 20 Mm. The probability of signal reception is shown to depend on a parameter proportional to the energy injected into the channel.
