Arguments are presented that contest the suggestions that the value of
the primordial helium mass fraction of 0.228 +/- 0.005, derived by Pagel
et al. (1992), is subject to an upward bias due to galactic chemical
evolution effects. The assumption that secondary nitrogen dominates even
at low metallicities is reexamined.
