The behavior of intermediate nuclei taking part in H-burning is analyzed. Comparing time scales for equilibrium with the time scale of convective mixing, it is found that Be-7, C-13, N-15, and O-17 cannot be assumed everywhere as bona fide secondary elements in stellar evolutionary computations. Some consequences of the onset of CNO burning are also discussed.
