A method for objective measurement of the penetration power of a telescope is described, and results of its application to the 6-meter LAT (Large Astronomical Telescope) are presented. A penetration power of 22.8 mag with a signal-to-noise ratio of 6 and 24.2 mag with a signal-to-noise ratio of 1 was achieved in early observations on the LAT for a 32-minute exposure. The limiting stellar magnitudes agree with calculated values.
