Preliminary results are presented for a joint Franco-Soviet search for gamma-ray bursts performed from the Venera 11 and 12 probes on the way to Venus and after the Venus lander program was completed. The search was carried out by means of the SNEG-2MZ instrument, which consists of two identical NaI(Tl) gamma-ray spectrometers housed in plastic anticoincidence scintillators. Detection of the 511-keV particle-annihilation gamma-ray line toward the sun is discussed, along with observations of gamma-ray bursts that were also detected by a number of other space probes and satellites, including Prognoz 7, ISEE-C, Pioneer-Venus, Helios 2, and Vela. The energy spectra of several bursts are plotted, and an error box for the location of one burst source is provided. No obvious source candidates are found within this error box.
