Preliminary results are presented from HIREGS on its first long-duration balloon flight, during which it observed the sun and the Galactic center. During observations of the Galactic center, a clear excess in the continuum was found, and it is estimated that with the complete data set from four detectors, the present 2-sigma sensitivity for the 511 keV and Al-26 1809 keV lines should be about 0.0001 counts/sec sq cm and about 0.00001 counts/sec sq cm, respectively. To date, roughly 40 percent of the HIREGS data has been superficially scanned, without any prominent solar flares being found.
