A preliminary photometric investigation of the open star cluster IC 361 is described which demonstrates that the cluster is not exceptionally old. The color-magnitude diagram for stars within 1 arcmin of the cluster center is found to resemble those of the intermediate-age clusters IC 166 and NGC 752. A cluster color excess of E(B-V) = 0.55 is estimated, a distance modulus of 13.80 and a ratio of total to selective absorption equal to 3.3 are adopted, and a distance of 2.5 kpc is obtained along with a linear cluster diameter of 6.5 pc. The main-sequence turn-off point is shown to suggest that IC 361 is an intermediate-age cluster that is 500 million to 1 billion years old.
