Preliminary spectroscopic orbital elements are presented for the metallic-lined A-star HD 434. Most of the orbital elements are based only on data obtained during the past eight years, but a few radial velocities measured more than 4 decades earlier have contributed to the reliable determination of an orbital period of 34d.26014. The system has the moderately large mass function of 0.122 M_sun;.
