An operational plan is constructed for the encounter segment of a manned Mars flyby mission involving six independently deployable probes, in addition to the manned mission module functioning as a command/control center. The first phase of the flyby system during encounter involves probe preseparation operations, probe injections, Mars approach, and Mars arrival; the second phase encompasses probe arrivals through checkouts, liftoff operations, direct photographic orbiter probe readout, and prebreak-even point operations. Attention is given to the functions of the mission module in all these cases.
