The true potential energy curves have been constructed for the ground and excited electronic states of SiCl by the method of Lakshman and Rao (1971). The dissociation energy of the ground state has been estimated by fitting the Hulburt-Hirschfelder function to the true potential energy curves. The dissociation energy thus obtained is 33,500 per cm (4.15 eV), which is in good agreement with the value of 4.5 + or - 0.5 eV reported by Gaydon (1968).
