An approach to the problem of the origin of varieties of the very important phenomena of solar corona, such as Coronal Mass Ejections (CME) and flares, was developed. In terms of the approach, the possible role of the critical ionization mechanism for solar atmosphere was examined. This mechanism, called the 'Critical Ionization Velocity (CIV) phenomenon', was investigated earlier in the laboratory both by full scale experiments as well as theoretically. The findings show the significant role of CIV phenomenon in initiation of CMEs and flares.
