It is shown that vertical profiles of auroral scattering with two height-spaced peaks can arise in the auroral E-layer with a single regular peak in the N(h) profile. This two-hump feature may be observed at high frequencies of the ultrashort-wave range, where the ionospheric refraction of radio waves is negligible. It is found that, as the height of the thin sporadic-E-layer changes, the thin and thick scattering layers can shift in position with respect to each other.
