Preliminary results of observation of luminous flares accompanying the impact of meteorites on the moon are presented. A two-channel photoelectric system, developed for this purpose, is briefly described. The threshold sensitivity of the instrument and the expected frequency of recording of meteorite flares are estimated. These estimates are in agreement with the observational data.
