We will focus on one of the approaches to model stellar populations of dense stellar systems -- the coupling of the single and binary population synthesis code with simplified Monte Carlo prescription for the global cluster dynamics and small N-body integrator for interactions between individual single and multiple stars. Being easily parallelized and capable to deal with large stellar populations, this method is currently a best available and suitable way to study rare formation channels, those that lead to the formation of only several objects per a cluster composed of million stars. A good example of such extremely rare channels are those that involve retained neutron stars and black holes, the relative fraction of which is less than 0.001 of the cluster population. We will review most important dynamical encounters that affect the population of compact objects and discuss how well our theoretical understanding can explain the current observations.
