The physical characteristics of aerosol particles of the Martian atmosphere are analyzed from ground-based polarimetric measurements. The spectral dependence of the parameters of the negative polarization of light reflected by the surface was taken into account in the calculations. This dependence was obtained within the scope of model based on allowance for single and double quasi-Fresnel reflections of light from microfacets of soil particles and for the shadow effect. Allowance for the optical properties of the surface permitted considerable refinement of the results of earlier work. According to our estimates, the mean size of the aerosol particles is about 0.5 micron which is close to the data of the Viking spacecraft.
