The Oppenheimer-Penney theory to calculate the polarization of Lα lines from hydrogen-like ions, when the impact electrons are distributed such that their probability is more in the regions close to the magnetic field (f(α) ≡ cosnα), is applied by Chandra and Joshi (1984). The work of Chandra and Joshi (1984) has been reinvestigated for the pitch-angle distribution f(α) ≡ sinnα. The degrees of polarization are still found to be independent of the atomic number of a hydrogen-like ion.
