I present measurements of the recoil proton polarization in the ^1H(γ,p)π^0 reaction, for energies up to 4.1 GeV and π^0 c.m. angles from 60^circ to 120^circ. These are the first data for polarization transfer in this reaction, and the first set of high energy polarization data in this reaction at large scattering angles and large four momentum transfer. The induced polarization data at lower energies, near 1 GeV, agree well with previous measurements and with phase shift analysis. Reproducing the polarization transfer data will require some adjustment to the reaction amplitudes. At higher energies, the rapid angle dependence of the polarizations suggests strong contributions from high spin resonances. No evidence is seen for an approach to hadron helicity conservation.
