The present results of a continuing study of symbiotic star optical linear polarization properties aims to obtain a statistically significant sample that will serve as a basis for the study of their circumstellar matter's geometrical arrangement and relationship to stellar components. In total, intrinsic linear polarization is detected in 9 out of 23 symbiotic stars; these are noted to be observed at a higher frequency when the associated cool component is of spectral type later than M4. Intrinsic polarization is found to be more common among systems belonging to the D infrared type. Dust scattering in the asymmetric circumstellar environment of symbiotic systems plays a role in the production of polarization, at least in D-type objects.
