In this contribution I will briefly review the polarimetric properties of accretion disks associated to young solar-like stars. I will show, through the presentation of selected data sets, how polarimetry can be used to study in greater details the geometry and dust content of protoplanetary disks. I will also briefly discuss the possibility to use aperture polarimetry to try and estimate the relative orientations of individual members of binary systems.
