UBVRI polarimetry of AR Pup obtained on six nights during January-March 1987 shows large variations, both in the amount (about 7 percent in U and about 2 percent in I) and position angle (about 40 deg in U and about 20 deg in I) of polarization. It is found that, as the level of polarization increases, the wavelength dependence becomes steeper towards ultraviolet. BV photometry of AR Pup was obtained on 63 nights during 1986-1987 and 1987-1988 seasons. It is found that the (B-V) curve leads the V light curve by about o.1 P and that the large variability seen in the V light curve is not reflected on the (B-V) variation. The available data indicates that polarization undergoes rapid changes after a light minimum, during the ascending branch of the light curve. Localized grain scattering is probably the main mechanism which produces the observed polarization.
