This paper describes a family of optical arrays whose parameters were evaluated by a computer analysis system. For simplicity all the arrays considered were in the same family (a circular ring of evenly spaced array elements), so that comparisons could be made as the number of array elements was varied. The authors conclude that a spaceborne, unfilled, minimum-redundancy array can be built that has performance similar to a filled aperture significantly reducing the cost of space-based imaging systems.
