The paper discusses the history of the discovery of Pluto. It is noted
that two scientists, Pickering and Lowell, worked independently in
searching for Pluto. Attention is given to the peculiarities of the
orbit of Pluto; its rotation, diameter, and surface structure; Pluto's
moon, Charon; and the possible existence of an additional planet.
