Some features of solar wind plasma behaviour in the magnetosheath are analysed: a) the shape of the ion distribution function - it is shown that it may be presented as a combination of three populations ("core", "shoulder" and "tail") with different parameters. b) the variability of the distribution functions and hydrodynamic parameters - it is shown that this variability is about an order of magnitude higher than that one in the solar wind. Based on selective measurements a comparison of the characteristics of protons and alpha-particles in the magnetosheath is carried out.
