The existing theories for resonance cones in drifting plasmas are compared with numerical calculations. In the low temperature approximation, the formula for the cone shift can be generalized to arbitrary drift directions, and a first-order perturbation formula that uses numerical results is suggested for the near field. Examples are given for ionospheric applications.
