The effect of the ambient plasma on dipolar radio emission by interstellar grains is calculated. Since the plasma frequency is small, the correction to EM emission is negligible, but the grains act as short antennas, radiating plasma waves (which are scattered and absorbed in the medium) more efficiently than EM waves. This could modify some discussions on the grains' rotation.
