We consider a four-dimensional effective gravity theory arising from a five-dimensional Chern-Simons form together with the Kaluza-Klein ansatz structure and a toroidal compactification to four dimensions. Plane-fronted gravitational and electromagnetic wave solutions in space-times endowed with a cosmological constant term are presented. The solution is a general one and contains three arbitrary functions, one of them being associated with a null electromagnetic field. A particular example with a specific choice of the free functions is also presented.
