The author examines the nonlinear interaction of Langmuir oscillations with magnetic field fluctuations in flare loops in order to shed light on the possible electron pitch angle distribution of electrons whose braking may account for the hard X-ray emission detected during the early stage of solar flares. In the case of an anisotropic pitch angle distribution, the interaction can lead to a considerable increase in the amplitude of magnetic field fluctuations, an effect which could be observed with current instruments. The interaction is absent when the pitch angle distribution is isotropic.
