Pi1C pulsations, observed at postnoon hours and consisting in the fine structure of a positive magnetic bay (the eastern electrojet), are investigated on the basis of multiyear observations at auroral latitudes. On the earth's surface, the Pi1C pulsations are recorded in the region between the projection of the main ionospheric trough and the Harang discontinuity. These pulsations are not accompanied by riometric absorption and are localized in the region of their source, i.e., they do not propagate along the earth's surface.
