The results of spectrophotometric investigations are presented which were used to determine the physical conditions in the nuclei of six galaxies with narrow emission lines. The densities and temperatures of the radiating gas were estimated to be 1000/cu cm and 14,000 K, respectively. The flux and luminosity in H-beta for each galaxy were also determined: F(H-beta) = 10 to the -13th - 10 to the -14th erg/sq cm-sec and L(H-beta) = 10 to the 38th - 10 to the 40th erg/sec. The effective volume occupied by the gas ranges from about 10 to the 56th - 10 to the 58th cu cm, and the mass is between 1,000 and 10,000 solar masses. The number of O5 V stars needed to ionize the gas is of the order of several hundred, which suggests that the most probable source of the ionization is the ultraviolet radiation of hot stars in these galaxies.
