The reasons for developing an X-ray photon position detector and a description of the system and its laboratory performance have been presented by Kubierschky et al. (1977) and by Kellogg et al. (1976). The reported investigation is concerned with an expansion of the design criteria for the analog function and their implementation in available hardware. A charge event is received by the preamplifier of each axis, grouped and processed by the summing amplifiers, verified by the pulse height analyzer, sorted by the charge center detector, stored by sample/holds, and converted by the multiplying analog to digital converter. The various components are discussed.
