Results are presented of a photometric survey of the cluster of galaxies A 426. The survey, performed with a 2.6 m telescope, revealed 530 galaxies in a 21.5 arcmin area of the sky, based on images with 2-2.5 arcsec resolution. Calculations were performed of the luminosity function of the cluster and of the distribution of the galaxies in the cluster in terms of brightness, ellipticity and position angles. An anisotropy was noted in the brightness-based distribution of the galaxies, with galaxies brighter than 19 mag being concentrated in the center of the cluster. Also, two breaks were observed in the luminosity function, which may be due to areas of significant increases in the numbers of galaxies fainter than 16 mag in the break regions.
