At a heliocentric distance of 120 kpc, AM 1 is the most distant Milky Way
globular cluster. In an effort to further investigate this cluster, we
obtained over 17 hours of data with the SOAR telescope. We present a color
magnitude diagram, calibrated to the Johnson BV standard system, with internal errors of 0.025 mag at
V = 25. The data were obtained over the course of 10 nights spanning 2007 to 2009 in the hope of detecting variable stars. We present initial results for the search for variable stars as well as revised distance, age and metallicity estimates.
