Scientific paper

Photographic plates taken with a 6-m telescope are used in photographic BV photometry of 634 stars in the globular cluster NGC 5053. The color-magnitude diagram up to the limiting magnitude V = 20 m is presented. The luminosity function of the cluster stars has been obtained. Also, the age of NGC 5053 has been estimated using different methods.
