Photometric and spectroscopic data are presented for the open cluster NGC 2112. An age between 3 and 5 Gyr is obtained, depending on metallicity. Stromgren data indicate a low value of about -1 dex, while G-band strengths of probable members seem to be weaker than those of stars in M 67, NGC 2243, Mel 66, which serve as comparison objects. Such a combination of age and metallicity is unique among star clusters. Spectral classification of several stars leads to a reddening value of E (B-V) = 0.6. The distance of NGC 2112 is of the order of 700-800 pc.
